BURTON PICKS UP SECOND WIN 36-14 OVER YORKTOWN

The Burton Panther Football Team picked up their second victory of the season last (Friday) night as they knocked off Yorktown 36-14.

The Panthers got on the board in the first quarter via a 7-yard touchdown run by Tyrone Gilmon to make it 7-0.

The Wildcats would open the second quarter with a touchdown and a 2-point conversion to take an 8-7 lead.

Burton re-took the lead on a three-yard touchdown run by Colby Beck to make it 14-8. They would later score again on a 12-yard touchdown run by Brady Griffin and Tyrone Gilmon added the 2-point conversion to increase the lead to 22-8.

Yorktown got their second touchdown after recovering a Burton fumble and returning it for a touchdown. The 2-point conversion failed, but they did cut the Panther lead to 22-14.

Tyrone Gilmon added a 29-yard touchdown run before the end of the second quarter, and the Panthers took a 29-14 lead into the locker room at half time.

Burton had the lone score in the entire second half as Drayton Oakes scored on a 10-yard run to make it 36-14.

D'Mitry Schulte was 4-4 on his extra point attempts.

With the win, the Panthers improve to 2-4 on the season, and 1-1 in district. They will travel to Louise next week. That game can be heard live beginning with the pregame at 6:30pm, followed by the kickoff at 7pm on the KWHI.com Alternate Feed.
