BURLESON CO. FAIR SETS NEW SALES RECORD

The Burleson County Fair set a new high mark for total sales.

Estimates from the 2023 fair between the youth livestock auction, commercial heifer sale and baked foods sale add up to $2,544,950.  That exceeds 2022’s total of $2,263,050 and 2021’s record of $2,269,850.

Making up the overall projected total is $1,376,900 from the youth livestock auction, breaking the record of $1,215,200 set in 2022; $1,120,750 in the commercial heifer sale, up from the $986,500 in last year’s sale but shy of 2015’s record of $1,153,000; and $47,300 from the baked foods sale, below the record of $77,100 set last year but still the third-highest amount in the history of the fair.

Some of the biggest sellers in the youth livestock auction were the grand champion market steer of Hudson Novosad of Caldwell 4-H, selling for $52,500, and the reserve champion market steer of Riggin Baldwin of Deanville 4-H, selling for $26,000.
