GAS PRICES DOWN FOR THANKSGIVING
Travelers in Texas can expect lower prices at the pump as they hit the road for Thanksgiving.
The statewide average for a gallon of regular unleaded fuel is $2.75, according to the AAA Texas Weekend Gas Watch. That price is 3 cents less than the price per gallon last week and 22 cents cheaper when compared to this time last year.
In Brenham, the average price of gas sits at $2.79, with a low of $2.63 and a high of $3.00.
Surveying the major metropolitan areas in Texas, drivers in the Bryan-College Station region are paying the most on average at $2.92 per gallon. Meanwhile, drivers in Abilene are spending the least at $2.60.
Nationwide, the average price for regular unleaded fuel is $3.28 per gallon, down 6 cents from a week ago and down 35 cents from last year.
AAA expects 4 million people to travel 50 miles or more in Texas this year for the Thanksgiving holiday, a 2 percent increase from last year and down 4 percent from pre-pandemic levels in 2019.
Across the country, AAA predicts this will be the third-busiest Thanksgiving on record with 55.4 million travelers.
