BUSY AGENDA FOR BRENHAM SCHOOL BOARD TUESDAY

The Brenham School Board has a lengthy list of items to work through at its meeting on Tuesday.

The meeting will open with a public hearing regarding the annual School FIRST financial accountability rating for Brenham ISD.

Following that, trustees will give special recognition to students including members of the high school choir and the junior high and high school volleyball teams.

The board will then receive legislative and financial updates, along with a monthly report from the acting superintendent.  There will also be an assessment update.

In other business, trustees will act on a board scholarship for the 2023-24 school year, the campus and district improvement plans, a resolution electing candidates for the Washington County Appraisal District Board of Directors, a resolution designating bank signatories at Bank of Brenham, and approval of the Student Health Advisory Council members and wellness plan.

In addition, the board will consider terminating a contact with Linebarger Goggan Blair & Sampson, LLP for the collection of delinquent taxes on the behalf of Brenham ISD and the taxing jurisdictions for which the school district collects through interlocal agreements.  It will then potentially act on a contingent fee contract with Perdue Brandon Fielder Collins and Mott, LLP for the collection of delinquent government receivables, for Brenham ISD and the other taxing jurisdictions it collects for.  There will also be a resolution to adopt the early turnover of personal property taxes, pursuant to Tax Code section 33.11.

An executive session is planned for consultation with an attorney and personnel matters.

The board will meet Tuesday at 6 p.m. in rooms 111 and 113 at Brenham High School.  The meeting will be livestreamed on Brenham ISD’s YouTube channel.
