Activities start with shopping at the Ant Street Inn during the Jingle Bell Market from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m., along with the First Friday Farmer and Artisan Market along Baylor and Park Streets from 3 to 6 p.m.

Festivities will also include the Polar Express Party starting at 6 p.m. at The Barnhill Center, featuring a showing of the movie “The Polar Express” at 7 p.m.  In addition, Unity Theatre will present “The Game’s Afoot – Holmes for the Holidays” at 8 p.m.  Tickets are available at www.thebarnhillcenter.com and www.unitybrenham.org

On Saturday, the day begins with a sold-out Breakfast with Santa at Must Be Heaven, sponsored by McDonald’s.  The Jingle Bell Market will re-open at the Ant Street Inn and run from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m.

At 5 p.m., the courthouse square will be filled with Christmas carolers, and there will be the lighting of the Christmas tree.

The parade will begin at 6 p.m., starting on Main Street and turning onto Alamo Street.  The theme for the parade is “Magic of Christmas”, and this year there are 95 entries with over 100 floats.

After the parade, children can visit with Santa at the courthouse gazebo and take rides on the 1950 Invader fire truck.  Another showing of “The Game’s Afoot – Holmes for the Holidays” will play at Unity Theatre at 8 p.m.

KWHI will broadcast from the tree lighting and parade on AM 1280, FM 101.7 and kwhi.com

As floats begin staging for the parade on Saturday, West Main Street and West Alamo Street will be closed from South Austin Street to Market Street from 2 to 4 p.m.  At 4 p.m., the closures will expand to East Main Street starting at South Chappell Hill Street and on East Alamo Street to the intersection of South Ross Street and Wilson Street.  Also, Market Street will close from Vulcan Street to Commerce Street.
