Former Brenham Cub and current Blinn Buccaneer Jake Kolkhorst has announced the next step in his collegiate plans.

After Blinn, Kolkhorst will be transferring to Baylor University to play for the Bears.

While at Brenham High School, Kolkhorst saw his junior season cut short due to COVID. He came back in his senior year to be named a Co-District MVP and was a third-team All-State selection.

Following his graduation from Brenham High School, Kolkhorst originally went to TCU as a pitcher, but after suffering an injury, he came back home and played for the Buccaneers last season.

While at Blinn, he ended up winning the starting rightfielder’s job.

In 39 games, Kolkhorst hit .339 with nine doubles, two home runs, 36 RBIs, 36 runs scored, and a .446 on base percentage.

The Bucs went on to win the conference championship and play in the NJCAA World Series.

He is the son of Jim and Lois Kolkhorst of Brenham.
