ACCUSED SEX OFFENDER BEHIND BARS IN AUSTIN COUNTY

A man wanted on a sex crime charge in Austin County was arrested thanks to an operation involving multiple law enforcement agencies.
37-year-old Fausto Romero-Lomeli was indicted by the Austin County Grand Jury on November 15 for Continuous Sexual Assault of a Child.
An Austin County Deputy currently assigned to the U.S. Marshals Gulf Coast Violent Offender and Fugitive Task Force was given the task of locating and arresting Romero.
On November 17, the Gulf Coast Violent Offender and Fugitive Task Force along with the Westside Narcotics Task Force placed a location that Romero was associated with under surveillance.
At approximately 12:45pm, Romero was located, arrested, and transported to the Austin County Jail in Bellville without incident.
The case was investigated by the Austin County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigation Division.
The Austin County District Attorney’s Office and the Hempstead Police Department also took part in the operation to arrest Romero.
