The no parking zone would extend between College Avenue and West Fifth Street.  The area is across from the campus band hall and near a sharp curve.

In accordance with Blinn’s master plan, the College is investing in off-street parking with the construction of a 154-space parking lot and the removal of 26 parking spaces along Blinn Boulevard.

City staff says the no parking zone would make the area safer for drivers and pedestrians.

Other business for the council will include potentially granting a non-exclusive franchise to Only 1 Rentals, LLC to operate a roll-off container service inside Brenham city limits.  The ordinance provides the business the authority to collect demolition/construction debris or solid waste from residential, commercial and industrial sites using roll-off containers or commercial containers.

The council will also:

  • Hold a public hearing and possibly act on an ordinance on its first reading granting a specific use permit to Calvary Baptist Church to allow construction of an open-air pavilion behind the existing church building at 1100 Niebuhr Street.  The Brenham Planning and Zoning Commission unanimously recommended approval of the item at its meeting on November 27th.
  • Consider budget amendments for the 2022-23 and 2023-24 Fiscal Years.
  • Hold executive session regarding Commonwealth Development, Inc. v. City of Brenham; Fair Housing Case No. 06-22-3294-8.
  • Meet in executive session to discuss Aviators Plus, LLC v. City of Brenham; Cause No. 37896, 21st Judicial District Court, Washington County.

The council will meet Thursday at 1 p.m. at Brenham City Hall.
