Hundreds of thousands of dollars and pounds of food were donated across the seven drop-off sites for the event, which supports the Brazos Valley Food Bank.
While final tallies are still being determined for the food drive as a whole, Brazos Valley Food Bank board member Carl Prihoda says Washington County collected 9,552 pounds of food and $6,500, not counting online donations.
Prihoda says this year’s numbers locally are a decline from last year, but the goal will always be to raise whatever possible to support families, especially in the current economic times.

Prihoda hopes to continue getting youth from local schools and Blinn College involved in the event, as well as coordinating with other food contribution efforts.
Participating alongside Washington County in the food drive were Brazos, Burleson, Grimes, Madison and Robertson counties. Donations stay local to the county they are donated in: Washington County beneficiaries are Bread Partners of Washington County, Faith Mission, Burton Bridge Ministry, the Prairie Hill Food Pantry and St. Peter’s Mobile Pantry.
