BRENHAM CITY COUNCIL TO HOLD EXECUTIVE SESSION FOR CITY MANAGER DISCUSSIONS

The Brenham City Council will hold a special meeting on Tuesday to begin the process of finding a new city manager, following Carolyn Miller’s announcement on Friday of her plans to retire in March.

Councilmembers will meet in executive session to discuss the transition to a new city manager, Miller’s potential roles or duties in facilitating that transition, and the next steps in appointing, hiring, evaluating and determining the duties of the next city manager.

Miller, whose career with the city began in 2005, has served in her current position since being appointed as an interim in September 2021.  She was named full-time city manager in January 2022.

Also in executive session, the council will consult with an attorney regarding former Brenham airport fixed base operator (FBO) Aviators Plus’ lawsuit against the city (Aviators Plus, LLC v. City of Brenham, Texas; Cause No. 37896; 21st Judicial District Court, Washington County, Texas).

No action is slated to be taken on either item.

The council will meet Tuesday at 4 p.m. at Brenham City Hall.

  1. It is time for city council to have a backbone and basic common sense to clean house. Too many chiefs that don’t know what their doing. They have allowed streets to fall apart, waterplant is now too small, allowed high city taxes to pay their overrated salaries, zoning is broken since city planning allows anything anywhere anytime. Citizens will now see if council cares.
