RUNAWAY HORSES SEND ONE PERSON TO THE HOSPITAL
In a scene that was reminiscent of something from the days of the Old West, one person ended up being hospitalized, and a patrol car was damaged following an incident involving some runaway horses in Bellville.
Bellville Police Chief Jason Smalley said that the incident began on Monday night around 7pm on the south side of town.
A group of people were being pulled in a wagon by a team of horses. Smalley explained that the incident began when the tongue of the wagon broke, and spooked the horses.
Then, they took off running.
Those who were riding in the wagon were all ejected. One person was taken to the hospital in Katy for treatment of injuries. The rest were said to have suffered just bumps and bruises.
The horses ran through various neighborhoods dragging the wagon and damaging other vehicles in the process.
Bellville Police Sergeant Cliff Burton caught up to the horses at the intersection of Front Street and Main Street.
Sgt. Burton then pulled his vehicle in front of the horse to stop them, or at least slow them down.
The horses ran into the patrol car, and finally stopped the chaos.
