LA GRANGE CHOOSES LONE FINALISTS FOR CITY MANAGER

Jack Thompson (City of Crowley)

The La Grange City Council has named Jack Thompson as their lone finalist to be their new City Manager.

Thompson is the current Assistant City Manager in Crowley, a suburb of Fort Worth, a position he has held since 2017.

After a lengthy closed session, council members chose Thompson from a final group of four candidates.

He is a 1992 graduate of TCU, and has a Masters in Business Administration from UT-Arlington.

Thompson will now begin negotiations with the council on a contract for salary and compensation.

According to the Fayette County Record, on a questionnaire that the candidates had to fill out, the salary range was listed as $150,000 to $180,000 a year.

La Grange has had difficulty in finding a new permanent city manager since the retirement of longtime City Manager Shawn Raborn in September 2022.

The council offered the job to Balcones Heights City Administrator David Harris, but couldn’t agree to a deal for his services.

In February of this year, San Benito Assistant City Manager Fred Bell was hired, but then he resigned in August, after just six months on the job.

Assistant City Manager Frank Menefee, who is also the La Grange Fire Chief, has been serving as Interim City Manager until a permanent replacement can be chosen.
