CITY OF BRENHAM BEGINS RECRUITING FOR CITY MANAGER; PROCESS TO TAKE PLACE IN-HOUSE

The City of Brenham is embarking on its search for a new city manager.

A press release from the city late Thursday said that following an executive session in the city council’s meeting, it was decided to formally begin the recruitment process for a city manager.

Current City Manager Carolyn Miller plans to retire in March.

The recruitment process will be done in-house.  The city said by doing this, it will be able to “identify a candidate who not only possesses the necessary skills and experience but also aligns with the values and vision of our community.”

Advertising for the position officially begins today (Friday).  The recruitment efforts will use various channels, including online platforms, local media outlets and professional networks, to ensure widespread visibility and attract a diverse pool of candidates.

The first review of applicants is scheduled for January 29th.  Brenham Mayor Atwood Kenjura said the city is “eager to identify a dedicated individual who will lead our city.”

  1. Let me applaud the Brenham City Council for doing this process “in-house” instead of paying huge amounts to outside recruiters and consultants. This is why we have an HR department. Good job City of Brenham, hopefully other governmental entities will follow this example in the future.
