TWO PEOPLE ARRESTED AFTER TRAFFIC STOP IN GRIMES COUNTY
A Grimes County Sheriff’s Deputy got behind a pickup truck that was traveling northbound on Highway 6 approaching the FM 3090 overpass with an unreadable rear license plate.
A traffic stop was made near the Brazos County line where the deputy made contact with a female driver, Crystal Vavra, and a male passenger, Adam Pallas.
After running a background check, it was determined that Vavra’s driver’s license was suspended, and that she had a previous conviction for Driving While License Invalid.
While speaking to Vavra outside the vehicle, the deputy said she seemed highly nervous.
The deputy asked Pallas for consent to search the vehicle, and Pallas denied the request.
A K-9 unit was called to the scene. The K-9 officer alerted deputies to the presence of drugs inside the vehicle.
A probable cause search was conducted that led to the discovery of a green leafy substance believed to be marijuana, a white crystalized substance that field tested positive for methamphetamine, and a used glass pipe that were concealed behind the glove compartment.
Deputies searched under the truck’s hood where a black magnetic box wrapped in black electrical tape was found concealed next to the battery.
Inside the black box were two more Ziploc baggies containing more of the white crystalized substance.
According to Sheriff Don Sowell, the amount of methamphetamine recovered was 24 grams.
Both Vavra and Pallas denied ownership of the items found.
Deputies placed them both into custody and transported them to the Grimes County Jail on charges of Manufacturing and Delivery of a Controlled Substance. and Possession of Marijuana Under 2 oz.
