A&M CONSOLIDATED BEATS BRENHAM; CUBS STILL CLINCH PLAYOFF SPOT

Elijah Ferguson (Mark Whitehead)

While they didn't win, the Brenham Cub Basketball Team made things interesting against A&M Consolidated last (Tuesday) night. A&M Consolidated won the game 70-66, which clinched them a share of the District 21-5A Championship with Lake Creek.

Although the Cubs lost, they still finished in a tie for third place with College Station. Playoff seeding games will be held later this week. Information is still being determined.

The Tigers jumped out to an early 20-9 lead on Brenham after the first quarter. The Cubs closed the gap by winning the second quarter 19-14, but A&M Consolidated still took a 34-28 lead into the locker room at halftime.

The Tigers won the third quarter 22-18 to increase their lead to 56-46. The Cubs battled back and actually won the fourth quarter 20-14, but it wasn't enough to overcome the early deficit.

Elijah Ferguson led Brenham with 23 points. JaKobe Mathis added 17 points. Chris Guidry finished with 10 points.
