CUBETTES WIN TWO MORE AT LEADOFF CLASSIC

The Brenham Cubette Softball Team picked up two more victories at the Leadoff Classic today (Friday) at Alumni Field.

CUBETTES 3 SANTA FE 2 (8 INNINGS)

Brenham jumped out to an early 1-0 lead on a solo homer by Kaylie Rodriguez in the bottom of the second inning.

Santa Fe tied it 1-1 with a homer of their own in the top of the 4th inning.

Santa Fe would then take the lead 2-1 on a sacrifice fly in the top of the 5th inning.

The Cubettes tied it 2-2 in the bottom of the sixth inning as Halle Scheel scored on an RBI single by Sarah Mabie.

It would stay that way until the bottom of the eighth inning when Stella Landry drew a bases loaded walk that brought home Kinley Antkowiak with the game winning run.

Kylie Baker (2-0) pitched three scoreless innings in relief of starter Della Jasinski to get the win in the circle.

CUBETTES 3 HARLAN 1

The Cubettes would pick up their second win of the day with a 3-1 victory over Harlan. All the runs in the game scored in the first inning.

Harlan got their first run in the top of the first on an error and an RBI single to make it 1-0.

Brenham would tie it 1-1 in the bottom of the first on a solo homer by Avery Maurer.

After Halle Scheel reached on an infield hit, two batters later Annie Beckendorf crushed a two-run homer to put the Cubettes up 3-1.

Heidi Busker (1-0) went all 7 innings, allowing 4 hits, 1 unearned run, no walks, and struck out four.

Next Up:

The Cubettes (5-0) wrap up the Leadoff Classic with a pair of games tomorrow (Saturday). They will play Liberty at 2pm and Danbury at 4pm. KWHI will have both of those games live beginning with the pregame at 1:35pm.
