BURTON SCHOOL BOARD TO HAVE CONTESTED MAY ELECTION; CITY CANDIDATES UNOPPOSED

Voters in Burton will have one contested race to participate in during the May 4th election.

Burton ISD has two seats on the board up for election, belonging to Brian Hinze and David Warner, Sr.

Three candidates have filed, including Hinze, Ande “Arch” Bostain and Mike Clyde.  Warner did not file for another term.

Hinze has served on the board since first being elected in May 2021.  Bostain is a former trustee, having been elected in May 2015 and serving until May 2018, being reappointed in December 2018, winning a special election in May 2019 and remaining on the board until November 2020.  Clyde formerly served as principal at Burton High School and was involved in committee work during the 2021 school bond election.

Warner has been on the board since winning election in May 2018.

Meanwhile, the City of Burton will not have any challengers to its sitting councilmembers in positions 2, 3 and 5.  Those seats are held respectively by Tommie Gilmon, Jeff Eckhardt and Macey Tidwell.

Early voting will take place April 22-30 at the Washington County Courthouse Annex.  Voting on Election Day will be held at the Burton Community Center.
