CONTRACTOR ARRESTED ON A THEFT CHARGE
The Waller County District Attorney’s Office has announced the arrest of a government contractor, who allegedly took large sums of money from the City of Hempstead for work that was never done.
Robert Glover of Glover Construction was taken into custody on Saturday and charged with a first-degree felony for Theft by a Government Contractor $100,000 to $200,000.
Prosecutors say that Glover was paid by former Hempstead Mayor Michael Wolfe for work that was never done, never completed, and in some instances for roads that did not exist.
The City of Hempstead lost over $2 million in road services to Glover Construction.
Wolfe plead guilty last month to Misapplication of Fiduciary Property, and was sentenced to six years in prison.
D.A. Sean Whittmore released a statement saying, “We look forward to presenting the full facts of this case in court and getting the people of Hempstead and Waller County justice for what Glover took from them.”
