SNOOK MURDER TRIAL PUSHED BACK TO OCTOBER 15

The trial of a Snook man that has been indicted on two counts of Murder has been pushed back an additional six months.

A pre-trial hearing for 20-year-old Frederick Lamont Hawkins was held on Monday in Burleson County District Court.

His trial, which was supposed to start in April, has now been re-set for October 15.

The murder charges stem from a March 2, 2022 fatal traffic crash that claimed the lives of 17-year-old Keelee Wilson and 16-year-old Fraylan Hawkins, both of Snook.

Frederick Hawkins was indicted on February 8, 2023, and turned himself in to the Burleson County Sheriff’s Office on March 6, 2023.

He was released after posting $200,000 in bonds.

DPS reports said Hawkins was the driver of a 2007 BMW with 17-year-old Ashauntie Lister of Snook as a front seat passenger. Wilson and the younger Hawkins were passengers in the back seat.

The BMW was pulled over by a DPS Trooper for failing to signal a turn, and a registration violation.

Hawkins initially stopped to talk with the trooper, but authorities said he then sped off on County Road 269.

A high-speed pursuit ensued, and ended when Hawkins crashed the BMW sideways into a tree.

Wilson and Fraylan Hawkins were pronounced dead at the scene by Burleson County Precinct 2 Justice of the Peace Bill Orsak.

Frederick Hawkins and Lister were seriously injured and taken to St. Joseph’s Hospital in Bryan.
