BRENHAM WOMAN ARRESTED FOR CHILD PASSENGER SAFETY VIOLATIONS

A Brenham woman was arrested Tuesday for several child passenger safety infractions.

Shortly after 11:30 p.m., Brenham Police Officer Nicolas Conforti stopped a vehicle in the 2700 block of South Chappell Hill Street.

The driver of the vehicle, 21-year-old Denise Priscilla Ruiz, was placed under arrest and taken to the Washington County Jail.  She was charged with three counts of Safety Seat System, Child Passenger – Child Under 8 (Unless Taller than 4’9”) Not Secured by Safety Seat.

  1. Is this a matter of a young mother not being able to afford child safety seats, or just casual disregard for the lives of her children? If it’s the former, I’ll gladly purchase one for her her, and I’m sure others would help supply the other two. There are also free child safety seats available from the Texas Department of State Health Services to those who meet the few qualifications listed here:
