BURTON CITY COUNCIL APPROVES ROAD REPAIR AGREEMENT WITH COUNTY

  

The Burton City Council on Tuesday approved an interlocal agreement with Washington County for roadwork.

The agreement outlines the roads that will be taken care of during the 2024-25 Fiscal Year with the work of the county’s Engineering and Development Services Department. 

The road repairs include Live Oak Street, East Cedar Street, Brandie Lane, a level up on West Washington Street, the South Main Street ditches, and chip sealing on San Marcos Street.  The total cost to the city is $69,120. 

Also on Tuesday, the council approved a resolution for an updated municipal maintenance agreement between the city and the Texas Department of Transportation.  Through the agreement, TxDOT will begin taking responsibility for maintaining the drainage areas in their right-of-way.

In other business, councilmembers:

  • Approved amended budgets for the 2023-24 Fiscal Year, reflecting fourth quarter income and expenses.
  • Approved the 2023-24 Fiscal Year audit of the seizure funds account, as required by the code of criminal procedure.
  • Read a proclamation in recognition and appreciation of Burton Bridge Ministry volunteers.
