BLINN SOFTBALL UPSETS #1 RANKED MCLENNAN 4-1

The Blinn Buccaneer Softball Team upset the #1 Ranked McLennan Community College Highlassies this (Wednesday) afternoon 4-1 at Hohlt Park in Game One of their doubleheader.

McLennan came into the game with a record of 53-1, and after facing the Bucs, they are now 53-2.

Prior to the game, special recognition was given to Blinn Head Coach Rick Church, who won his 1,000th career game earlier this month.

The game was a scoreless tie until the bottom of the fourth inning. Darian DeLeon hit a sacrifice fly that scored Bailey Boetjer with the first run of the game. Ripley Welker scored a short time later on a wild pitch as Blinn took an early 2-0 lead.

The Bucs would get two more runs on a McLennan error in the bottom of the fifth inning to increase their lead to 4-0.

The Highlassies scored their first and only run in the top of the 7th inning to make it 4-1.

Peyton Welker went the distance for Blinn to pick up her 18th win of the season.
