BRENHAM SCHOOL BOARD TO VOTE ON SCIENCE CURRICULUM, NEW IT DIRECTOR
The Brenham School Board will consider new K-12 science curriculum and the hiring of a new Information Technology Director when it meets Monday.
Trustees will hear a presentation on science curriculum from SAVVAS Learning Company before voting on the matter.
Brenham ISD Communications Director Brooke Trahan said the school district is having to change the curriculum in order to align with new Texas Education Agency (TEA) requirements and revisions to the Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills (TEKS) standards.
Trahan said Brenham ISD went through a procurement process for the new curriculum, and that science teachers in the district were part of that process.
Following an executive session, the board will look to approve the selection of an IT Director, as well as various administrator and professional teacher contracts.
According to Trahan, Rodney Leer is retiring from the IT Director role next month. The position was posted internally.
Leer rejoined Brenham ISD in May 2021 after having previously worked for the district for 17 years. His career has also included stops in Magnolia ISD, Pasadena ISD and Dickinson ISD.
Other regular session business will include an update on tax collections and discussion on preliminary property values for 2024.
The board will meet Monday at noon in the Brenham ISD Administration Office. The meeting will be livestreamed on Brenham ISD’s YouTube channel.
