Two young interns celebrated finishing their SEARCH program during a bridging ceremony Tuesday afternoon. They spent the past nine months learning employability skills training and interning in various departments at Baylor Scott & White Medical Center in Brenham.  The two graduates are Morgan Steck and Alexis Hymann. Project SEARCH assists young adults with disabilities as they transition from youth to adult life. The program aims to secure competitive employment for those with disabilities.

Their primary instructor from Brenham ISD is Sharon Machac.  She is retiring this year after 10 years in the position.  Both Morgan and Alexis don’t know where their next job will come from, but they both have interviews lined up.

  3. Mrs. Machac is an extraordinary person who should be in the dictionary when you look up “teacher” and “patience.” She has impacted hundreds of students with her dedication and commitment to making their lives better. Thank you for all you’ve done. Enjoy retirement. You’ve earned it.
