HIGH SCHOOL SOFTBALL - REGION CHAMPIONSHIPS
The first game between Lake Belton and Lake Creek was suspended in the sixth inning with Lake Belton leading 5-0 in the top of the 6th inning.
The series resumes tonight (Friday) at 5:30pm at Mumford High School. Game Two will follow 30 minutes after the conclusion of Game One.
If a third game is needed, it will be Saturday at 12 noon in Mumford.

The current district alignment for baseball is competitive for baseball but it’s not that special. Only A&M Consolidated is currently ranked in the top 10 and they come in at #10. District 26-5A has #3 – Boerne Champion & #11 – Smithson Valley. District 25-5A has #4 – Liberty Hill & #5 – Cedar Park & #7 – Leander Rouse. Those two district have to face each other in the first round of the playoffs. That’s 5 of the top 11 teams in the state in one bi-district.
I hear lots of excuses but the reality is that local politics, entitlement, and bad administration have run off the best teachers and coaches from Brenham and it’s no longer the community that it used to be. Brenham’s best days are behind it but that is a choice that was made.

Just wanted to let things play out a little longer before responding to this. Circling back now that the regional finals are around the corner.
Looks like Lake Creek and Magnolia West are matching up again in the Regional Finals. They were ranked 3rd and 4th in our district. Our 3rd and 4th seed has, to this point, beat everyone else’s 1 and 2.
(I don’t like to make assumptions like some do, but If I did… I’d say any team from our district could still be in the run if they didn’t all meet up with each other in round 3)
This is the 3rd year in a row a team from our district will be playing in the Regional Finals.
Checking in on that region 2&4 bracket… maybe these teams didn’t do as well as you expected or as “rankings” projected. I’d also like to point out, since Rouse is still in the running… they’re playing Victoria West to get into Finals… while our side of the bracket met up with Friendswood. If you know, you know.
I just think there are people out there that think they know more than they know. Maybe keep those thoughts to yourself… unless it’s going to encourage or be productive for your community.
Laughing at “not so special” There are a lot of people in this town who get it… for those who still don’t … do read this comment. Then let us know what you think.
