BRENHAM SCHOOL BOARD TO HEAR STAAR/EOC RESULTS

The Brenham School Board will review the latest state testing results when it meets on Monday.

Earlier this month, the Texas Education Agency (TEA) released the results for the spring 2024 STAAR End-of-Course (EOC) assessments.  The results, which include Algebra I, English I, English II, Biology and U.S. History, serve to measure student performance and academic readiness.

Statewide, in terms of students meeting grade level, the TEA says performance improved in English II, declined in U.S. History, and held steady in Algebra I, Biology and English I.

In other business, trustees will act on the approval of an assistant principal at Brenham High School.  They will also vote on instructional materials, receive a budget update and hold a public hearing regarding the district’s Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA) title grant application.

Later, the board will go into executive session to consult with an attorney and discuss personnel matters.

Also on Monday, the board will consider:

  • A resolution designating the district’s investment officers.
  • A contract for student and catastrophic insurance.
  • Possible designation of 10 non-business days to be utilized for open record requests.

The board will meet Monday at 6 p.m. in rooms 111 and 113 at Brenham High School.  The meeting will be livestreamed on Brenham ISD’s YouTube channel.
