CITY OF NAVASOTA GEARING UP FOR FREEDOM FESTIVAL

The City of Navasota is getting ready to host its 5th Annual Freedom Festival in celebration of Independence Day.

The free event is set for the Fourth of July in downtown Navasota and will include a parade, live music, fireworks and family fun.

The parade will start at 6 p.m. at Brosig Avenue, traveling west on Washington Avenue to 9th Street.  Participants can begin lining up on Brosig Avenue at 5 p.m.  Participation is free and does not require registration.

Following the parade, ESCAPE: A Tribute to Journey will take the stage outside of Navasota City Hall at 7 p.m.  Food and drink vendors will be onsite, and there will be kids activities like a waterslide, inflatables and face painting.

Closing out the night will be a fireworks display around 9:15 p.m. at Brule Field.  The fireworks can be viewed throughout town and in downtown, but spectators can also come to the field starting at 8 p.m. to watch.

The City of Navasota reminds residents that selling or discharging fireworks is not allowed within city limits.
