Baylor Scott & White Health (BSW) and BlueCross BlueShield of Texas (BCBS) have reached a temporary contract extension.

The two have announced an agreement to extend provider and facility contracts until October 1st.

The extension means BSW providers, hospitals and other facilities will remain in network for BCBS members as work continues on finalizing a long-term agreement.

The current contracts were set to expire on Monday.  If the two do not reach an agreement by the new deadline, BCBS would no longer be in-network for BSW doctors and facilities.

  1. Get arrested and you will have your own medical staff for free figure that one out? The lawbreakers got a better medical plan than tax paying law abiding citizens! Remember that when go pay that property tax in October. Why can’t we charge the criminals and where is the money for the fines going? Why can’t tax paying citizens have access to county paid healthcare? We shell out nearly 10 million a year just for this inflated EMS budget? Where is our fair share?

  2. That is not what I was told when my agent call Baylor Scott and White insurance representative and she said that they only cover you if you are currently in a ongoing treatment. Baylor Scott and White should be in a contract from year to year like we are with our coverage. I totally agree been this way a while with comments not directed at the employees.

  3. I have an appointment in a couple of weeks so
    I called BS&W/Brenham
    and was told as an
    established (2014)
patient, they will still take my policy, and
    confirmed my appointment.
We have to stay on top of things as they can
    change so quickly.

  4. Baylor Scott & White is playing a game of chicken. They are trying to get more money and think this tactic will help.

It has caused me to lose trust that they will remain my provider. I don’t want to be in a situation where I suddenly have to find a new doctor, yet that is precisely what they have told me may happen.

It is wiser for me to start looking for another doctor now when I can organize my search and am not under the time pressure of having to find one immediately. I think everyone who has Blue Cross Blue Shield of Texas and has Scott and White doctors would be well advised to consider changing to another provider before they are told that their insurance will no longer accept Scott and White.

    1. Dumbest thing ever done selling to a totally focused on profits…not health care…organization. Remember how they responded to Covid…went right along with the crooked government/Fauci!!! I wonder why we keep having all these fundraisers for the hospital…golf tournament/etc. That was fine when they were a true local provider But why we raising money when they could care less about this community!! And, finally, none of these comments are directed at the employees…they are just doing their best and I thank them.
