RICKY DICKSON RELEASING NEW BOOK REFLECTING ON 43-YEAR CAREER AT BLUE BELL

Retired Blue Bell Creameries President and CEO Ricky Dickson has authored a new book with stories from his 43 years with the company.

“One Scoop at a Time” shares Dickson’s memories and experiences from his time at Blue Bell, from his journey as a college student writing an essay on the company to joining the business in 1981.  It also highlights some of the lessons he learned as the company grew and his insights into leadership, faith and overcoming obstacles.

Dickson says the most exciting aspect about watching Blue Bell expand into new markets was getting to see and hear from people trying Blue Bell Ice Cream for the first time and being able to create new, lasting memories.

On the flip side, some challenges that Dickson points to were ensuring that Blue Bell stayed within itself and kept a methodical, step-by-step approach to take care of existing markets before going out into new territories.

In the book, Dickson also talks about the world of ice cream production, how new ice cream flavors are picked, and his favorite flavors like Homemade Vanilla and Salted Caramel Brownie.

Dickson says while the ice cream was certainly a great part of working for Blue Bell, the best part was the people.

“One Scoop at a Time” officially releases on July 16th, but Dickson will have a limited number of copies available at book signing events this Friday and Saturday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Blue Bell Country Store in Brenham.  Additional signing events at the Country Store will be held on July 18th from 1:30 to 3:30 p.m., July 19th from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., and July 20th from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.
