BURTON SCHOOL BOARD TO MEET TUESDAY

The Burton School Board will gather for its next meeting on Tuesday.

The meeting will open with campus and administrative reports, plus an update from Weaver & Jacobs Constructors on the bond project.  This will be the first construction update provided by the firm since it was hired last month to serve as the new construction manager-agent.

In addition, trustees will recognize students from the Burton Beta Club.

Later, the board will take a vote regarding the district’s bond contract for drywall with A Brush Above Services.  It will also consider approval of the student code of conduct and teacher appraisal calendar and move to designate Washington County Chief Appraiser Dyann White to calculate the district’s no-new-revenue and voter-approval tax rates.

Other action items include the purchase of bus cameras, a yearly agreement designating Washington County Extension Agents as adjunct staff members, a bank signatory agreement, and an annual item to delegate contractual authority to obligate the school district to the superintendent under Texas Education Code for the purchase of attendance credits for the 2024-25 school year.

In dedicated discussion items, board members will review the Texas Association of School Boards investment policy and the district’s local leave days.

Trustees may also go into executive session to consult with an attorney and discuss personnel, security and real property.

The board will meet Tuesday at 6 p.m. in the Burton ISD Cafeteria.  Prior to the meeting, the public is invited to a welcome reception starting at 5 p.m. for new Superintendent Vikki Curry.
