GRIMES COUNTY DEPUTY ARREST MAN ON MULTIPLE CHARGES

Ryan Mayfield (Grimes County Jail)

While conducting a follow-up investigation on a burglary, a Grimes County Sheriff’s Deputy ended up with a bigger arrest than he thought he was going to get.

The deputy came across a White Ford F-150 occupied by a white male that was parked in the middle of Oak Drive in Plantersville.

According to Sheriff Don Sowell, the odor of marijuana could be detected coming from the vehicle.  The suspect originally said that his name was “Ryan Mattern.”

He was instructed by the deputy to stand at the rear of the vehicle, while a search was conducted. However, the suspect took off running on foot.

Other officers were called into assist, and later found him hiding under a house on County Road 201.  The suspect, who was later identified as Ryan Mayfield, was taken into custody without further incident.

A background check discovered that Mayfield had warrants for his arrest from the Texas Board of Pardons and Parole, and the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office.

A search of the vehicle also discovered a black nylon bag with multiple baggies, 10 grams of a white crystallized substance believed to be methamphetamine, needles, and a digital scale.

Mayfield was transported to the Grimes County Jail in Anderson where he was charged with Evading Arrest or Detention, Failure to ID as a Fugitive, Manufacture or Delivery of a Controlled Substance more than 4 Grams but less than 200 Grams.  He was also served with the two warrants.
