BRENHAM CITY COUNCIL HOLDS BUDGET MEETING
The Brenham City Council met in an unusual meeting Monday morning. The meeting opened with an executive session that lasted 30 minutes with the Council conferring with the City Attorney about Roger Chambers request to have 24 acres released from the city’s extraterritorial jurisdiction. They also consulted with the city attorney about an Attorney General’s open records ruling.
They then went into regular session to approve a media marketing agreement with Geiger and Associates. The Agreement is related to the Visit Brenham Media Marketing.
They then moved on to a work session to hear the proposed budget for the next fiscal year. Julie Flagg, the City’s Chief Financial Officer, went over the income and expenses for the city.
She went over each department requests for the budget. Of note is the request from the Police Department for new body worn cameras, and fleet cameras. Also, the request from the Fire Department for 3 new firefighters to eventually man the new fire station at the intersection of James Nutt Boulevard and Handley Street.
The council was able to get through all of its budget discussions at Monday's meeting, so the meeting scheduled for Tuesday has been cancelled.
