EVAN ASCHENBECK DOESN’T HEAR FROM NCAA, WILL NOT RETURN TO AGGIES FOR 2025 SEASON, SIGNS MINOR LEAGUE DEAL

Former Brenham Cub and Texas A&M Aggie, Evan Aschenbeck, was drafted by the Chicago Cubs in the 13th round of the recent MLB baseball draft, but was holding out hope of returning to the college ranks for one more season. He had reached out the NCAA about that possibility, however yesterday he posted a message on X (formerly Twitter) that seems to put that to rest:

Evan Aschenbeck

“Aggieland, I am forever grateful for the love I have received over the last two years. After not hearing back from the NCAA about additional eligibility, it’s time for me to pursue my dream of playing professional baseball. I will be back as often as I can, Aggieland is my home.” - Evan Aschenbeck on X.

UPDATE:
Aschenbeck has signed a minor league contract with the Chicago Cubs worth $150,000/yr.
