BRENHAM FIRE DEPARTMENT RESPONDS TO SEVEN CALLS

The Brenham Fire Department had a busy 24-hour period responding to seven calls between Friday morning and early Saturday morning.

Brenham Firefighters were dispatched to 1201 Highway 290 West at 9am for the report of an alarm sounding. A BFD unit arrive on the scene to find nothing showing from the exterior of the building. BFD members found water coming from the sprinkler system room. BFD members found that the City of Brenham was doing flow tests on the hydrants in the area causing the water pressure to drop.

Brenham Firefighters found a similar situation when they were dispatched to 1901 Longwood Drive just after 12:30pm. BFD members found water coming from the sprinkler system room, which was caused by the City of Brenham doing flow tests on the hydrants in the area causing the water pressure to drop.

Just after 1pm, the Brenham Fire Department was sent to 4001 Highway 36 South for an alarm sounding. BFD members found that the building was being remodeled, and that dust in a smoke detector caused the alarm to sound. Firefighters spoke with a maintenance worker, who said he would repair the detector.

BFD Units were then sent to 3950 Marshall Lane in Chappell Hill at 4:45pm for a controlled burn that got out of hand. They were canceled in route by the Chappell Hill Volunteer Fire Department.

The next call came in just before 6:30pm.  Firefighters went to 406 Botts Street where a homeowner had burnt food in a microwave. BFD members found no damage to the microwave, and that the smoke detectors did not work.  They replaced the two smoke detectors and returned to service.

Then, BFD Units went to the scene of a two-vehicle accident at 8:40pm at the intersection of Burleson Street and MLK Jr. Parkway. Firefighters checked for injuries and leaking fluids and found neither.  They helped to remove debris from the roadway and then returned to service.

The final call came in at 1:20am this (Saturday) morning. Firefighters went to a report of a fire investigation at 102 North Drumm Street.  BFD Units found nothing in the area.  They also checked the home with a thermal imaging camera and did not find smoke or a fire. Since nothing was found, they went back to the station.
