The department’s 55th Annual Fireman’s Fiesta at the Fireman’s Training Center served up lots of barbecue and had plenty of games and auctions to support its services to the community.

Stephen Draehn, Assistant Chief for the volunteer side of the Brenham Fire Department, says they sold about 1,700 barbecue plates on Sunday.  There were also 29 teams that participated on Saturday in the pitch tournament and 36 entries in the cornhole tournament.

Money raised at the Fireman’s Fiesta goes toward new equipment for firefighters and fire trucks, as well as operating and maintenance expenses at the Fireman’s Training Center.

Draehn says the department is grateful for the public’s continued backing of first responders.

The fire department’s next fundraiser will be at the end of the year with its New Year’s Eve Dance.
