WASHINGTON CO. COMMISSIONERS PROPOSE SAME TAX RATE
Washington County Commissioners today (Tuesday) proposed to keep the overall property tax rate the same.
The proposed rate of $0.3840 per $100 valuation will look different in terms of how it is made up, in comparison to the current adopted rate.
The county is seeking to increase the maintenance and operations portion from $0.2940 to $0.2975, while lowering the road and bridge portion from $0.0823 to $0.0790 and the interest and sinking side from $0.0077 to $0.0075.
The no-new-revenue rate is $0.381614 per $100, while the voter-approval rate is $0.403091 per $100.
With this proposed rate, the tax on the average homestead would go up $109.73. Certified property values from the Washington County Appraisal District show that the average taxable value of a home in Washington County increased by $28,574, or 10.2 percent.
County Auditor Shawna Hollis said property tax revenue to be raised from new property added to the tax roll this year is $770,850.
A public hearing for the tax rate has not officially been scheduled, but is expected to be next month.
