BRENHAM & BURTON SCHOOLS REPORT INCREASED FIRST-DAY ENROLLMENT FROM LAST SCHOOL YEAR

  

With classes underway in Brenham and Burton ISDs, early student enrollment numbers are up from the start of school last year.

Data provided by Brenham ISD shows that on August 13th, the first day of the 2024-25 school year, enrollment totaled 4,598 across its seven campuses, up from 4,556 at the beginning of the 2023-24 year. 

For Burton ISD, enrollment at its two campuses for the first day of school on August 14th was 622, up from 581 the same time a year ago. 

Looking at individual Brenham ISD campuses on opening day, the largest number of students is at Brenham High School, with 1,487 students.  Brenham Junior High School is next at 723 students, then Brenham Middle School at 674.  Krause Elementary School leads the three elementary campuses with 612 students, followed by Brenham Elementary School at 491 and Alton Elementary School at 450.  The Early Childhood Learning Center tallied 161 students. 

Burton ISD schools on the first day reported enrollment of 383 students in grades Pre-K through 6th grade at Burton Elementary School and 239 students in grades 7-12 at Burton High School.

Enrollment totals are expected to climb as the fall semester progresses.  In Brenham ISD’s case, enrollment as of Tuesday, August 20th, had already grown to 4,755.

  1. Very curious how many of the 622 students attending Burton schools are actually from Brenham/out of district?? Was a very large percentage as I recall.
    Lots of traffic in our little town of 300 people twice a day, and a 44 million dollar bond to swallow!
    KWHI-can you find the answer for the BISD citizens/taxpayers??
