(Fayette Co. Jail)

Texas Rangers, assisted by local State Troopers, executed an arrest warrant for 53-year-old John Nolte II, who was apprehended around 7 p.m. in the 1800 block of FM 1291, close to Ledbetter.  DPS Sergeant Darryl Tidwell told KWHI that Nolte was working in oil and gas at a well site in the area.

Nolte was wanted out of Seminole County, Oklahoma on pending charges of murder and conspiracy in connection to the May 2023 death of 33-year-old Jacob Washington.  Oklahoma District 22 District Attorney Erik Johnson said in a release that Nolte was arrested the same day that the warrant was issued.

Washington, according to the release, had been missing since May 12, 2023 and was found five days later in “an advanced state of decomposition” on an oil field road near Seminole, Oklahoma.  The Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation collected evidence which, along with investigation conducted by the Seminole National Lighthorse Police and District 22 agents, led to the arrest warrant being issued for Nolte.

Nolte remains in the Fayette County Jail, where he awaits extradition to Oklahoma to face charges.  Johnson emphasized that Nolte is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
