HEAD-ON COLLISION IN BELLVILLE SENDS ONE TO HOSPITAL

Bellville police responded to a head-on collision near downtown Friday evening.

Around 7 p.m., officers were called to a two-vehicle rollover crash in front of San Bernard Electric Cooperative, 309 West Main Street.

According to Bellville Police Chief Jason Smalley, one of the vehicles was traveling northbound in the center turn lane when it collided head-on with the other vehicle that was headed southbound.

Smalley said the impact sent the first vehicle into a utility pole and caused it to overturn.  Its driver was transported to MidCoast Medical Center in Bellville with unknown injuries.  The other driver was treated at the scene.

  1. Looks as if someone was going way faster than the speed limit. That truck had to have had to be thrown hard. That is not all that far from the Bellville square. How could both be blind from oncoming person in the turn lane. Something just does not seem right. Pray the person that was transported to the hospital is doing ok.

  2. Looks to me as if NOT a “head-on” collision..
Appears one driver ran the inntersection.”Head-on” would have two front-ends demolished.
