David Smith will speak at the Cannery Kitchen on Friday, September 13th from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m.  Smith will talk about his experiences as a special agent and the role and authority of the FBI in law enforcement.

Smith spent eight years as an Airborne Ranger in the U.S. Army before beginning his career as an FBI special agent, investigating various violations of federal law including bank robberies, kidnappings, domestic terrorism and the pursuit of fugitives.

Among the cases Smith worked were the trial and conviction of organized crime boss John Gotti in 1982, the first World Trade Center bombing in 1993, the TWA flight #800 explosion over Long Island Sound in 1996, and the 9/11 terrorist attack in 2001.

Smith now lives with his wife in Round Top, where they own and operate Cottonseed Trading Company and Antiques.

Registration for the program is $25 and includes lunch.  Reservations are due by Friday at www.lifetimelearningbrenham.org.
