TEXAS ARTS & MUSIC FESTIVAL ANNOUNCES MURALISTS
Two Texas-based artists will be the featured muralists at next month’s Texas Arts and Music Festival in downtown Brenham.
The festival announced today (Friday) that Floyd Mendoza from Pasadena and Toni Ardizzone from Austin were selected after a review of over 100 applicants. Their art installations will be among the many things to look forward to at the festival, running October 18-20.
Mendoza’s journey has taken him from a refinery job in Pasadena to a full-time artist. The 26-year-old has works all over Southeast Texas, featuring a realistic style mixed with colorful imagery and backgrounds.
Ardizzone has murals from Canada to Argentina and everywhere in between. She says she aims for “a humanness that is exposed through gestural brushwork, accidental drips, heavy-handed paint, and a mixture of materials that is sophisticated and childlike.”
New this year at the festival, there will be a juried art show at The Laundry Event Hall. There will also be live painting exhibitions and an art village with a variety of vendors. Live music will play throughout the Saturday of the festival, with a headliner performance from Jomo and the Possum Posse.
The Texas Arts and Music Festival is a nonprofit organization dedicated to providing an event for art and music lovers to enjoy while raising money for local art programs.
