A Gonzales man was arrested on Monday night on multiple charges in Fayette County.

According to Fayette County Sheriff Keith Korenek, Deputies received a 9-1-1 call just before 11pm reporting a Burglary of a Residence on Anchor Ranch Loop near Allen Road in the Flatonia area.

Deputy Cody Williams arrived on the scene and found a male subject exhibiting strange behavior standing next to a 4-wheeler in the roadway with his hands up.

The male subject was wearing body armor and was detained.  A 9-MM handgun was located in a ditch next to the 4-wheeler.

Deputies Duane Meagher, Wesly Arrison, and Sgt. Ben Wilson also arrived on the scene.

Upon investigation, it was discovered that the subject’s vehicle had broken down in the roadway.

The suspect, later identified as 31-year-old Ross Stayton Lester, is said to have made entry into a residence, and stole a Honda ATV.

He then drove the ATV to another property and made entry into a pick-up truck, where he took the body armor and the handgun.

Lester also entered that residence, and was confronted by its occupants so he immediately left.

Deputy Williams arrested Lester and transported him to the Dan R. Beck Justice Center in La Grange.

He was charged with two counts of Burglary of a Habitation, Unauthorized Use of a Vehicle, Unlawful Possession of Body Armor by a Felon, and Unlawful Possession of a Firearm by a Felon.
