CUBS LOOKING FOR THIRD WIN OF THE SEASON AGAINST BRYAN
The Brenham Cub Football Team and the Bryan Vikings face off tonight (Friday) at 7:30pm at Merrill Green Stadium in Bryan. Alex Mearns and Tommy Lange will have the call of the action on KWHI 1280AM, 101.7FM, and the KWHI.com. It all begins with the pregame at 7:30pm.
The Cubs are off to a 2-0 start to the season after beating Houston Sterling 42-6 last Friday night. They also won a thriller 39-35 over Huntsville on opening night, August 30.
Through two games, Brenham is led Senior QB Jordan Harvey. Harvey has completed 21-29 passes for 285 yards, which is good for a 72% completion rate. He has thrown for three touchdowns, and three interceptions. Harvey's QB Rating is 98.3.
Sophomore RB Jakoby Dixon is the team's leading rusher. He has carried the ball 39 times for 340 yards and five touchdowns.
Junior WR Chris Guidry leads the Brenham receiving corps with 6 catches for 85 yards and a touchdown.
The leaders on defense include Junior MLB Caleb Espinoza, who has been involved with 25 tackles, 20 solo and five assists. He is followed closely by his fellow Junior LB's Kristian Prosper with 21 tackles and Doyle Brown with 17 tackles.
Meanwhile, the Bryan Vikings are 1-1 on the season. They beat Magnolia West in their season opener 45-28, but then lost to Huntsville 49-24.
Senior QB Boone Turner is 19 for 36 passing for 360 yards, which is good for 53% completion rate. He also has four touchdown passes to three interceptions, and a QB Rating of 88.9.
Junior RB Jevalen Wade is the team's leading rusher with 28 carries for 267 yards and three touchdowns. Senior Titus Runnels has 33 carries for 144 yards.
The biggest receiving threat is Senior WR Terrence Lewis, who has nine catches for 271 yards and four touchdowns.
In addition to that, this (Friday) evening is also Bryan's Homecoming Night.
