The 156th Washington County Fair Queen was crowned Saturday night.

Paige Marth was named Fair Queen after selling 2,763 fair tickets.  She is representing Washington County 4-H and is the daughter of Brandon and Kristie Marth.  She is also the sister of Emma Marth, who was the 153rd Washington County Fair Queen.

Marth said it is an honor to be named Fair Queen and is thankful for all of the support from her family, friends and the community.

The individual ticket sales record was set in 2023 by Katie Seeker, who sold 5,352 fair tickets.

The runner-up for Fair Queen was Makenzie Wehmeyer, who sold 2,240 tickets.  She is also representing Washington County 4-H and is the daughter of Brandon and Brandie Wehmeyer.

The Fair Queen Contest consisted of the ticket sales element as well as an essay and interview.  Marth was the winner of the essay component, while Avila Colanter was the winner of the interview portion.  Colanter is representing Grace Lutheran High School Athletics and is the daughter of Eddie and Britt Colanter.

Also competing was Kinley Antkowiak, who is representing Brenham Athletics and is the daughter of James and Kelly Antkowiak.

Between the four queen candidates, they sold a total of 6,426 fair tickets for $321,302.  The overall record was set last year with 10,840 tickets for $433,614.

Activities at the fair began Saturday morning with the parade through downtown Brenham, and many more are in store throughout the coming week at the Washington County Expo.  The winners of the Little and Junior Mister and Miss Contests will be announced on Wednesday.

    1. what needs to happen is better entertainment offered. The ‘stars’ that are offering shows during this years fair are people I’ve never even heard of.

      1. While I agree with better entertainment, as I think everyone does, the cost of entertainment these days are through the roof!

For these people “you have heard of”, most are wanting 200-300k to perform, which as you can see from ticket sales, the budget is obviously not there to get A list talent to perform. Catch 22 situation sadly.
