Around 12:45 p.m., firefighters were called to the 6800 block of Gibbs Creek Road for a structure fire, with the Bellville and Salem Volunteer Fire Departments responding for assistance.

The call initially came out as a fully involved house fire with the main structure on fire, but once units made it to the scene, they found a garage/apartment section of the house with heavy smoke coming from the eaves, windows and garage door.

Chappell Hill volunteers deployed a line into the garage and quickly extinguished the fire, preventing it from spreading into the rest of the residence.  Salem and Bellville firefighters helped with manpower and water supply.

No injuries were reported, and units cleared the scene shortly before 4:30 p.m.

At 9:15 p.m., Chappell Hill VFD personnel were dispatched to FM 1155 and Old Plantation Road for a vehicle fire.  While responding, they were informed that the vehicle was off the roadway and the bed was on fire.

Units arrived on scene and found a GMC pickup fully involved.  They used tank water to put out the fire without any injuries, and once a tow truck was onsite, firefighters cleared the scene shortly before 10:45 p.m.
