BRENHAM CUBS HOSTING WACO IN HOMECOMING GAME

The Brenham Cub Football Team opens district competition this (Friday) evening by playing host to the Waco Lions. Both teams are coming off a bye week for the entire district last week.

The Cubs are off to a 4-1 start. They have victories over Huntsville (39-35), Houston Sterling (42-6), Bryan (43-22), and Killeen (73-42). Their lone defeat came against Gilmer (51-37) two weeks ago.

Brenham is led by RB Jakoby Dixon (So.), who has carried the ball 109 times for 1,164 yards, and 15 touchdowns. He is currently averaging 10.7 yards per carry.

QB Jordan Harvey (Sr.) has completed 47 out of 78 passes (60%) for 727 yards for eight touchdowns and four interceptions. He has a QB Rating of 104.0.

The receiving corps is led by Chris Guidry (Jr.), who has 12 catches for 273 yards and four touchdowns, and Cartelle Brown (Jr.), who has 12 catches for 172 yards and three touchdowns.

Waco opened their season with a loss to Granbury (3-0), but then had back-to-back wins over Corsicana (20-6) and Cleburne (27-21 OT). The Lions then had back-to-back losses to Navasota (34-12) and San Angelo Central (37-6).

QB R.J. Young (Sr.) has completed 49 out of 93 passes (53%) for 572 yards with three touchdowns and two interceptions. He has a QB Rating of 73.4.

RB Mason Smith (Sr.) is their leading ball carrier with 91 carries for 440 yards and five touchdowns.

Their leading receiver is Bryant Whitaker (Jr.), who has 16 catches for 297 yards and three touchdowns.
