NEARLY 100 STUDENTS TAKE PART IN TEXAS ARTS AND MUSIC FESTIVAL ENRICHMENT PROGRAM
Nearly 100 art students from Brenham and Bellville walked through downtown Brenham today (Thursday) as part of the Texas Arts and Music Festival.
The event invited students to participate in hands-on workshops designed to expand their understanding of the world of professional art. During this year’s enrichment experience, students interacted with renowned muralists Toni Ardizzone and Floyd Mendoza, learning about the process behind creating large-scale public art.
Painting students collaborated on a class mini-mural under the guidance of their painting teacher. Sculpture students visited the local studio of Doug Peck, where they observed a Raku ceramic demonstration and contributed to a collaborative clay tile mosaic. Drawing students explored the history of photography in Brenham at the Brenham Heritage Museum, where they learned about the connection between photography and mural art.
The Texas Arts and Music Festival runs Friday through Sunday in downtown Brenham, offering an art village with a variety of vendors, live painting exhibitions and live entertainment. Proceeds from the event are directed towards supporting educational resources for arts and music programs in Washington County and the state of Texas.
