CUBS DEFEAT RUDDER 31-10 ON HALL OF HONOR/PINK OUT NIGHT

The Brenham Cub Football Team capped off Hall of Honor and Pink Out Night with a 31-10 victory over the Rudder Rangers.

With the win, Brenham improved to 6-1 overall and 2-0 in district, while Rudder dropped to 6-1 overall, and 1-1 in district.

Jakoby Dixon got the scoring started on a 33-yard touchdown run with 4:05 left to go in the first quarter. Bleu Cienega added the extra point to make it 7-0 Cubs.

In the second quarter, Santiago Lugo kicked a 30-yard field goal for Rudder that cut the Brenham lead to 7-3 with 5:47 left in the half.

The Cubs were not done as Dixon scored on a six yard run, and Cienega added the PAT to give Brenham a 14-3 lead going into the locker room at half time.

In the third quarter, Xyran Upshaw scored on a three yard run, and Cienega kicked another PAT to make it 21-3 at the 5:48 mark.

Rudder would get closer on a touchdown pass from Javyn Jessie to Jaquise Martin to cut the lead to 21-10.

Dixon would get the Cubs back into the end zone in the fourth quarter with a 5 yard touchdown run with 8:04 left in the game. Cienega added the extra point to make it 28-10.

Cienega then capped off the scoring with a 22-yard field goal that made it 31-10 Brenham.

Dixon finished the game 27 carries for 249 yards and three touchdowns. The yardage moved him past Lamont Roberts for eighth on the all-time list.

Prior to the game, Brenham ISD recognized the Hall of Honor inductees on the field. Players and fans also wore pink items in honor October being Breast Cancer Awareness Month.

Next up, the Cubs will head to Killeen Ellison for more district action. Ellison is coming off of a 40-0 win over Waco this (Friday) evening. Kickoff is at 7pm, with a 6:30pm pregame on KWHI.
