SOMERVILLE LOOKING FOR A NEW POLICE CHIEF
The City of Somerville is looking for a new police chief after the resignation of Jake Sullivan.
Sullivan, who has been the Somerville Police Chief for the past four years, has accepted the job of Police Chief in Howe, Texas.
Sullivan said it was a great opportunity, and a chance to move closer to family.
He submitted his resignation to then City Administrator Danny Segundo on September 20.
Sullivan told City Council members at their October 8 meeting that it had been an honor to serve the community, and cited the positive steps that the department has taken under his leadership.
His last day in the office was this past Wednesday, and his resignation is scheduled to officially take effect on Monday.
Current City Administrator David Resendiz told the Burleson County Tribune that the process has begun to find a new police chief.
He is planning to form a five-person committee to conduct the search. While, no timeline has been set for naming a new chief, however they hope to have at least a group of ten candidates to interview by December 1.
Resendiz also said that as of right now, there are no plans to name an interim police chief.
