WASHINGTON CO. E911 DIRECTOR, OPERATIONS MANAGER RESIGN EFFECTIVE IMMEDIATELY

The Washington County Emergency 911 (E911) Department is now without its top two officials.

Washington County Commissioners met for just under 45 minutes in executive session today (Friday) before voting 3-0 to accept the letters of resignation for E911 Director Robyn Hood and E911 Operations Manager Shannon Selden, effective immediately.  Their resignations, which were originally tendered after a commissioners court executive session last Friday, were previously set to take effect November 1st.

No further details on the reason for the departure of Hood and Selden were provided by the commissioners court.  However, a press release issued after today’s meeting states that the county “has enlisted the Texas Association of Counties to conduct the investigation into the claimed allegations.”

Last week’s commissioners meeting was called to hear certain personnel claims that have been made in the E911 Department.  Hood released a statement this week claiming that “false allegations” were being presented against her and Selden, though the nature of those allegations has not been made known publicly.

The county’s press release says, “We appreciate their contributions to the department and wish them well in their future endeavors.”

The E911 Department provides dispatch services to all local public safety agencies, including law enforcement, EMS and firefighters.

The release states that the county is “working collaboratively with the communications staff to ensure a seamless and safe transition of responsibility.”  It says the county’s priority is to ensure that 911 services remain uninterrupted, and that public safety officials, elected officials, department heads and other stakeholders “are actively engaged in supporting the Communications Department to uphold our shared mission of protecting and serving the residents of Washington County.”

The county says the E911 Department will operate with interim leadership as it conducts a search for a new director.  Commissioners did not act on said interim management at today’s meeting.
